Shearer's
Lodge is situated on Leeuwenbosch farm, 60 km's from Port
Elizabeth. Leeuwenbosch boasts a historical colonial manor
house built in 1908 which offer true country living in every
sense.
Shearer's
Lodge was built in 1930 to serve the farm as a dedicated sheep
shearing shed. In 1926 Marino farming was started and continued
until 1996 when the farm was transformed to game. The old
shed, surrounded by indigenous gadens, has been converted
into 4 star luxury en-suite rooms, three twin and one suite.
A game
drive through Amakhala Game Reserve will leave you in awe
of the diverse vegetation and spectacular scenery which abounds
here. Sunlit grassy savannah plains, a mosaic of Valley Bushveld
plants, the gently dappled of the sand forest, many watering
holes and the wide spellbinding Bushman’s River. This
is home to great African mammals, birds and insects. It will
humble and fascinate you.
Amakhala
Game Reserve is a successful conservation project which has
seen the reintroduction of elephant, white rhinoceros, giraffe,
cheetah, zebra, wildebeest and many antelope species. Your
professional guide will give you a holistic interpretation
of the ecology of the ecology of the land and history of the
people.
